Infrastructure as a Service FAQs
What is Infrastructure as a Service by InMotion Hosting?
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) delivers cloud computing infrastructure via the internet to support IT operations. IaaS provides hardware, storage, servers, and data center space or network components to businesses. This allows businesses to use web-based operating systems, applications, and storage without having to purchase, manage or support the cloud infrastructure. Flex Metal Hosted IaaS provides privacy first, infrastructure consistency, predictable costs, and an open source architecture. Read a Support Center article on Infrastructure as a Service.
What is a Hyper-converged Infrastructure vs. a Converged Infrastructure?
A hyperconverged infrastructure takes four service groups: compute nodes, storage nodes, control plane nodes, and network nodes, and combines them together to a single hyper-converged server. A converged infrastructure means that compute and storage resources are on the same physical box. Read a Support Center article on hyper-converged vs. converged infrastructure.

The second option is the HC Standard Private Cloud Core that has several key attributes to consider for production deployments. As your internal network is handled by the PCC, the HC Standard’s 20 GBit connectivity may be critical if you are moving large amounts of data back and forth internally that must traverse the PCC. internally that must traverse the PCC. The HC Small is 2gbits only. The HC Standard has NVMe drives versus the SATA SSDs in the HC Small.
